A Publishable Colloquium Paper

To present at The Grawemeyer Colloquium, a short colloquium paper must be submitted for publication to The Grawemeyer Colloquium Papers through the submission portal below. These papers are accepted from all disciplines. Submissions are open to undergraduate scholars and researchers at the University of Louisville who have conducted mentored or juried scholarly works and/or research. All presenters at the colloquium represent a commitment to developing thought by first submitting an academic colloquium paper regarding their work. These publications will be protected by University Libraries under non-exclusive copyright and will allow ideas to be made publically available and share-able amongst scholars across all backgrounds.

The Grawemeyer Colloquium Papers is an academic colloquium paper collection journal. All submissions are subjected to editorial review by a colloquium review board established by the research committee of the Grawemeyer Scholars Association. Upon completing review, the author will receive a citation, the paper will be published in the current volume on the date of the colloquium, and will be indexed across the searchable web-index commons in its field of study. The Grawemeyer Colloquium Papers are also indexed in the United States Library of Congress.

These papers provide a short academic publication centered around the core ideas of a work, conveyed in a way that allows for the exchange of these ideas across disciplines. The editorial board will work with all author submissions, submissions at any stage are welcome. Authoring a colloquium paper may provide an advantageous step towards larger publications or future presentations of a work. It may also serve as an outlet for early publication of works that may see future development or publication in a discipline-specific or peer-reviewed journal. Following the colloquium guidelines will ensure that "prior publication" does not occur by publishing the colloquium paper, and should be adhered to especially in these scenarios. Generally, these papers should entail more of a philosophical approach (unless of course your field of discipline is philosophy, in which case more broadness is encouraged if future publications are desired).  Similar guidelines should be followed with oral and poster presentations where the protection of intellectual property (including patentable devices or processes) is of concern.

Authors can submit their colloquium paper through the University of Louisville Library (ThinkIR) Grawemeyer Colloquium submission portal below, and will need to upload a signed submission form under "additional documents" in the ThinkIR portal. This form includes guidelines for drafting a colloquium paper. To download this, click "Submission Form" below.

Students of The Arts, Humanities, or Music who have juried works or performances from mentorship are welcome to produce a paper and provide a presentation or performance. Special guidelines for papers and presentations from these fields of study are discussed in the guide. Please contact The Grawemeyer Scholars Association with any questions or concerns. Original scores, or images of artworks, may also be published with your colloquium paper.

If you have any concerns about colloquium paper submissions, questions on making a submission or presenting at the colloquium with these requirements, please contact The Grawemeyer Scholars Association from the home page.
